1/ Remove Certain Sites from Search Results.

Do a search with: searchterm -site:site.com

Example: “42 inch lcd tv” -site:richersounds.com

to exclude results for a particular site. Excellent if you find a particular website is saturating the top results, and you wish to exclude them from the results page. Also useful when you’re looking for a product, but don’t want to buy from a particular site.

Widgets now have their own dedicated desktop rather than an overlay on the screen. A three finger swipe left from Desktop 1 reveals the Widgets screen.

WordPress 3.2 is a big step for the WordPress Development Team. They’ve finally accepted that old technology is only slowing them down – and that a much brighter and exciting future lays ahead if they drop the old and work with the new. With this in mind, WordPress 3.2 will no longer support PHP4 or MySQL4. Instead, users will be required to run PHP 5.2 and MySQL5.

OS X Lion will feature a ‘restore’ partition to allow recovery of the OS without the need for Disks. Now although this has been done over and over, whats unusual about this feature is Apple are including Safari within the recovery Partition. Can’t boot your Mac? Then boot to the Recovery Partition and fire up the Apple Support Site and look for a Fix!!

Facebook to Release Full Fat App for the iPad

The New York Times have reported today that Facebook ‘insiders’ have revealed an iPad version of the Facebook App could be released in as little as a few weeks time. Although the insiders refused to reveal their indentity – they did reveal some interesting features we can expect. The app has been in production for almost a year, and has had careful design and optimization to work perfectly with the iPad. We can expect full resolution photos and a great video experience from the slick interface.

Frequency of Use on Facebook, Twitter and Other Social Networking Sites

Today Pew Internet released a report outlining trending details for Social Networking usage. One of their studies concentrated on the frequency that users use different sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Interestingly the report reveals only 6% of users ‘Never’ or ‘Less Often’ use Facebook, whereas 41% report this for Twitter. This shows a striking difference between the different pattern of use Facebook and Twitter users have.

HTC to release Gingerbread update on the Desire

In a swing of events, HTC have announced on their official Facebook Page that they’ll be releasing the long awaited Gingerbread Update to their older Desire device.

In a Wall post, they said..

“To resolve Desire’s memory issue and enable the upgrade to Gingerbread, we will cut select apps from the release. ?Look for status updates starting next week. We apologize for any confusion.”
